What I’m Leaving Behind and Where I’m Going Next

Wrapping up this semester feels different. I’ve finished classes before, but this time I’m leaving with something I actually want to keep. Weaponized Reading may have started because of a class project, but it grew into a space that feels genuinely mine. And now that the deadlines are gone, I’m realizing I don’t want to stop writing.

What I’m taking with me is the foundation this class helped me build: the discipline, curiosity, and confidence to own a blog site. Consistent posting taught me that my ideas are worth returning to, refining, and sharing, even when the work feels heavy or complicated. I learned how to shape my thoughts into something readable, how to trust my own interpretations, and how to carve out space for conversations that don’t usually have a home in everyday life. That’s something I want to carry forward. It feels like I finally proved to myself that I can sustain a project with intention, not just momentum.

Moving forward, I’m sticking with the plan I already set for myself: finishing the books I’ve already read and annotated before I jump into anything new. There’s real value in returning to material I’ve lived with for a while. I can slow down, revisit my notes, and write from a place of depth instead of rushing through new information just to meet a deadline. At the same time, one of the quiet bonuses of the semester ending is the freedom to pick up a new book whenever I feel like it. During the class, I was careful not to start anything fresh because I knew I wouldn’t have the time to read it thoroughly. Now, I can explore at my own pace.

Looking ahead, I already know what I want to dig into next. I still have to finish The Willie Lynch Letter, and I’m gearing up to take on White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, which I’ve been wanting to share for a long time. I also want to break down Too Much and Never Enough by Mary L. Trump because there is so much in that book that’s relevant right now. Those are the pieces at the top of my list, but I’m also leaving room for whatever new ideas or books might catch my attention now that I’m not tied to a class schedule. The whole point of this space is to follow the questions that matter to me, so wherever my reading takes me next is exactly where I plan to go!
